INTO THE BAREFOOT WORLD: A GUIDE FOR BEGINNERS

INTO THE BAREFOOT WORLD: A GUIDE FOR BEGINNERS

In the last few years, the concept of barefoot has been gaining popularity, and it’s no surprise. More and more people are questioning traditional footwear and looking for a more natural way to walk and live.

But getting started in this world isn’t simply a matter of changing your shoes. It’s about understanding that it’s a gradual, conscious change and, above all, one that respects your own body.

If you’re curious but don’t know where to start, this guide is for you.

WHAT IS THE TRUE MEANING OF BAREFOOT SHOES?

Barefoot shoes are designed to allow the human foot to develop and function naturally. Therefore, they must meet four basic requirements:

·         A thin, flexible sole;

·         Zero drop (no height difference between the heel and the toes);

·         Ample space for the toes;

·         No excessive artificial support.

CHANGE YOUR MINDSET

If you’ve always worn conventional shoes, there’s something important you need to know: your feet are likely to be weakened. For years, they’ve been compressed and restricted. That’s why the transition to barefoot needs to be slow and gradual. Barefoot isn’t about how fast you get there, but how you get there.

HOW TO START

Choosing the right model for you is a crucial step! Many people think that the wider the toe box, the better, but this isn’t entirely true. The aim is to find a toe box that fits your foot properly.

Why? - A toe box that’s too narrow squeezes your toes; - A toe box that’s too wide leads to a lack of stability and control; - The right choice lies in striking a balance between freedom and a natural fit.

Find the model that's right for you:

KIDS

For growing feet, it is even more important to choose the right style. For example, the Korkid and Bernardino soles are both ideal for first steps, but it is important to understand the differences between them. While the Korkid is recommended for narrower feet, the Bernardino is recommended for feet that are naturally wider and need more space - you need to know your feet.

ADULTS

For adults, the principle is exactly the same: neither too tight or too loose, but a natural fit and freedom of movement. The Cristine Bare sole is a classic example of a barefoot shoe that fits standard-sized feet well and provides a natural feel.

Learn to walk again step by step:

First few weeks:

-1-2 hours a day;

-Try to walk on smooth surfaces.

Then:

-Shorter walks and gradually increasing the duration.

Exercise the muscles in your feet:

-Calf raises;

-Toe exercises;

-Balance training.

Warning signs:

-Normal: Muscle fatigue and tenderness;

-Not normal: Sharp, persistent pain.

Standard adaptation period:

3 to 6 months( or more), but the benefits are clear - stronger feet, better posture, natural movement.
